Transform Simple Spaces into Works of Art

Tile and stone, once a mainly functional decorative asset offered in just a few colors and sizes, has become a way to create conversational works of art in what might otherwise be insignificant, simple spaces in your home.
With today’s endless selection of custom, textured, and/or colorful tile selections, transforming the everyday into the extraordinary is now fun and – with the help from the experts at Coast Tile – easy! Bring your inspiration and ideas and we’ll help you do the rest.

Perhaps you’ve been looking for that perfect piece of art for that one tall, thin section of wall in your kitchen nook. Consider a nice mosaic tile or stone covering instead. How about surrounding that wrap around couch with a tiled or stone backing – or accenting the bathroom vanity with a bold tile to give an otherwise small space a big accent?

Interior designer Jen Busler of Jennifer Busler interiors of Margate, NJ uses some of these out-of-the-box approaches to tile when bringing each of her interior design projects. Jen has worked on many projects where unique tiles and mosaics were used to add a layer of elegance that is unmatched.

“When commencing a home project, the main living space is typically a great starting point to consider in bringing a unique flare into the design. As the entertainment center of the home, it is an ideal space to add dimension and excitement.”

Jen added that in plain spaces, dimensional tiles, neutrals, and textures on furniture and adding a pop of color on rugs and pillows creates impact. Some of her favorite projects include a master bathroom vanity wall done in Artistic Tiles Xanadu Falls Bianco Dolomiti Dolomite Mosaic and a bar backsplash done in Stone Impressions’ Harlan blue on honed Carrara.

Moving into 2023, the trend is toward tiling stair risers, pet stations, headboard walls, and walls or countertops and floors that might get more wear and tear with bright, colorful, and unique patterns is growing, for both the impact and longevity these treatments offer. “These spaces are perfect for tile, serving both form and function. Many of today’s tiles are remarkably beautiful but also wonderfully resilient; so well-worn spaces can be kept bright and artful for years to come,” said Jen.

Here are a few examples of unique spaces that are brought to life by adding elements of tile and stone:

Often, we can get so caught up in the chaos of designing the interior of an entire home, that we forget the enjoyment of adding our own personal flare to each space. Tile can turn the most mundane area into a work of art and a great conversational space – evoking a unique sense of style that others will want to emulate. Our homes should be a source of joy and contentment. With Coast Tile’s vast selection of designer tiles and your decorating dreams, we’ll transform those ordinary spaces into spectacular works of art to enjoy with every passing glance.

  1. My installer sent me to Coast and fortunately I met Darcy. She listened to my plans and showed me design ideas/textures that may work. Darcy gave me time to wander the gorgeous displays and answered all my questions. Her expertise was spot-on and her time spent with me offered assurances that I would have the bathroom I had only dreamed about. Darcy ordered products, followed up with delivery and even exchanged one minor item.
I highly recommend Coast Tile and Darcy as the “go to” folks to get your job done.
